An extremely rare and absolutely adorable antique winter cupid pendant. The Victorians loved cupids, cherubs and fairies and this handsome chap is from the height of their popularity c.1890s. He has exquisite features; a warm chubby little face and dainty wings as well as a warm fur hand warmer, ice skates and even a bow and arrow in the background. Looks great on a chain or simple black ribbon and he’d make a great wearable addition to any collection.

ERA: Antique c.1890s

ORIGIN: There is no makers mark but I believe the ‘AV’ denotes the import mark for the Austrian-Hungarian Empire pre 1901 (when it changed to a winged A).

SIZE: Diameter 3.3cm

MATERIAL: Silver and enamel.

CONDITION: Great antique condition. No chips or scratches to the enamel. There is a slight ‘line’ in the enamel to the left hand edge but this is original and mentioned only for accuracy and does not affect beauty or wearability. The original jump ring is secure. The reverse has two small manufacturing holes which are original to the piece. There is some minor indentations to the reverse but nothing serious. CARE GUIDANCE: As this is antique enamel it should not be layered with other pieces and please store in separate box to avoid damaging enamel. Do not immerse in water or spray with perfume / aerosols.
