Description

A charming handmade silver ring by Stuart Nye; modelled as a naturalistic dogwood rose with four large curved petals around a central stamen. A lovely original vintage statement piece by this collectible American designer.

Stuart Nye was a jewellery designer in Ashwood, North Carolina who focused on naturalistic designs such as roses, pine cones etc. He started his business in 1933, and retired in 1948 with the firm passing to the Morris family; it is still operated by that same family today.

This is a lovely early example from the 1940s when Stuart Nye was designing and making these pieces himself.

ERA: Vintage 1940s.

SIZE: The ring size is adjustable by opening or closing the shank. It currently sits at approximately a U.S. size 7.75 (UK size P 1/2) but can go up or down a few sizes. The head of the ring measures 34 x 23mm so it has a lovely spread on the finger.

MATERIAL: Sterling silver.

CONDITION: Nice vintage condition. Despite the size of the flower it is extremely comfortable to wear. Nice thickness to the shank meaning it feels nice and robust. Personally I prefer the patina of vintage silver so I have not over-polished this ring but it could be buffed to a higher shine by a professional jeweller if desired.
