A fabulous #Lilleybellebijoux original!

I rescued this wonderful German crystal reverse painted dog watch chain and thought it just had to make the most fabulous statement necklace by adding a length of heavy Victorian watch chain.

This piece has such great character; the dog is in a deeply reverse carved and painted dome in the style of Essex crystals popular during this era. Mounted in a wonderful tassel and multichain setting. I have left the original oversize bolt ring and lobster claw at either end as I think they just add to the quirky look.

A really cool statement piece that is so easy to wear and dress up or down.

ERA: Victorian components, re-assembled by me

ORIGIN: Central dog watchchain is German origin – stamped Geschutz (copyrighted) to the link by the large bolt ring. Curb link chain is English origin.

MATERIAL: Reverse painted glass, and base metal.

SIZE: 20″ long but you could easily or remove links from the back chain. Dog centrepiece measures 1.25″ diameter and 0.5″ deep.

CONDITION: Great antique condition; the whole is a beautifully heavy weight and the links are a lovely construction in unusual pattern. The paint work to the glass does shows some wear but the main part of his face is still nicely picked out with characterful eyes and shimmering silvery white colour. The whole has a lovely patina as I have not overcleaned the components. Links are not soldered but secured using nice heavy weight jump rings – this does mean you could easily wear it as a watchchain still if desired. Original oversized dog clip and circular clasps work well.
