A substantial and beautifully made silver double albert necklace; the heavy curb links have a wonderful tactile smoothness to them and it feels so good to wear.
It is getting harder and harder to find original Victorian double Albert chains like this as many get broken up over the years to make bracelets or melted down. This piece is particularly unusual in that it is silver-gilt; this is original to the piece and with age it has mellowed to a wonderful light yellow gold colour. As such you get the look of an antique gold albert necklace for a fraction of the price of solid gold one.
Extremely wearable it looks great on its own or stacked with other pieces. A great staple to any antique jewellery collection.

MATERIAL: Sterling Silver with original antique gilt finish
SIZE: Measures 17.5″ long – could easily be lengthened or shortened by a professional jeweller if desired. The links are graduated – largest links in the middle are 11mm x 13mm.
CONDITION: Beautiful antique condition. All the curb links bear the sterling lion hallmark. Other links are also marked showing sterling. The two dog clips have different makers marks – one is ‘EW&S’ and the other ‘HP’. It is not unusual for pieces such as this to have components like dogclips made by different makers – I believe they’re both original to the piece as evidenced by the colour of the silver gilt being the same. The T bar shows date letter for London 1896. Both clasps work well.
