Antique Etruscan Revival Engraved 15ct Rose Gold Band Ring c.1850s

A beautifully made and highly sought after engraved band ring; with a wide flat profile, delicate Etruscan Revival modelling and hand engraved details around the whole.

The Etruscan Revival style was especially popular throughout the 19th Century after the discovery of treasures in archeological digs across the Mediterranean.

This particular piece is unusual in that it’s a band ring, likely a wedding ring, rather than the more common earrings, necklaces, and pendants made in this style.

The colour is a gorgeous tint that you can only get with 15ct gold and it sits at the cusp of yellow and rose with a warm blush shade; not deep rose pink. Accented with impressed beaded detail and hand engraved panels it is a beautiful piece of antique workmanship.

A great and very wearable addition to any antique jewellery collection.

ERA: The hallmark city and date letter are rubbed but I believe this piece was assayed in Birmingham (bottom of anchor stamp rubbed but discernible) and that the cartouche shape of the boxes, combined with construction and style indicates this piece was made in 1850/60s.

MATERIAL: 15ct gold – full English hallmark.

SIZE: UK size P / U.S. size 7.75 – Ring measures 5 mm across, and depth of profile is 1 mm.

WEIGHT: 3.6 grams

CONDITION: Beautiful antique condition. Has a gorgeous antique patina so I have not had this ring repolished. Design on band is crisp with only slight signs of wear commensurate with age. Hallmark is crisp on the 15ct but rubbed on date and town marks. Box for illustration only, but this piece will come beautifully gift wrapped. Video available on request.
