Description

A beautiful pair of antique Georgian earrings; formed of cut-steel and Silesian wire-work to make a beautiful dramatic shoulder sweeper tassel drop. The cut-steel beads and batons are facetted to give beautiful soft sparkle, which works well with the dark gothic spirals of silesian wirework.

They have such an elegant drama to them and would look great dressed up or down. Perfect addition to any antique jewellery collection.

ERA: Georgian c.1830s

MATERIAL: Cut-Steel, Silesian wire-work, and sterling silver hook fittings.

SIZE: Tassel is 6.5cm long from top to bottom. Total drop length 7.5cm.

CONDITION: Great antique condition. Cut-steel often rusts with age and so this pair are beautiful rare survivors. Some signs of light rust commensurate with age; one earring more than the other but this is to the back and really not noticeable when worn – the front side is still good! There are six tassels to each fitting and I believe this is the original number that was on each as no evidence of loose/lost beads. Simple hook fittings are modern replacements but sympathetic style to the originals from this era.

CARE GUIDANCE: Cut-steel does need a little extra tlc as it doesn’t like getting wet so don’t store in a damp environment, and keep in a box/pouch to avoid tangling with other pieces in your jewellery box. Do not immerse in liquids or aerosols.

SHIPPING: Free inside the UK and to the US – please note buyers are responsible for any customs or import charges.
