Description

A striking and unusual pair of original Georgian earrings; the facetted coral beads are a beautiful shade of orange, strung together with wirework around a central diamond shaped gilt metal mount. These originally had replacement base metal hooks but I swapped them out for solid 9ct yellow gold ones in a style sympathetic to the original, and with the simple hook closure for more security.

Coral has been popular in jewellery since ancient times but became particularly popular in the Georgian era as a fashionable souvenir from the Grand Tours around Italy. This lovely pair dates to around 1800-1820 and absolutely capture the elegance of the era. Lightweight they’re extremely wearable for both day and evening.

A great addition to any antique jewellery collection; perfect for summer and fall!
