An elegant original Georgian ring featuring a duck egg blue cabochon of Turquoise set in a smooth gold mount. This ring dates to c1780s-1800 and very much of the period when Jane Austen’s famous turquoise of a similar style was made. This is a chance to own an original antique piece from around the same era!

It sits beautifully on the hand with a low profile and very comfortable to wear. Looks great on its own or stacked with other pieces. A classic addition to any jewellery collection.

ERA: Georgian c.1780s-1800

MATERIAL: Natural turquoise and gold (unmarked but tests as c9ct)

SIZE: U.S. size 4.75 / UK size J. Cabochon measures 9x7mm.

CONDITION: Great antique condition. The turquoise is a fabulous even duck egg blue colour with just a couple of minute natural marks to the surface. The reverse of the stone shows a natural fissure but this isn’t visible from the front and doesn’t affect the security of the stone.

The gold shank has a subtle (rather than strong) rose colour and the head has a slightly more yellow tint – it’s a nice thickness and still very wearable. Evidence of a sizing join to the back, which is not uncommon for this period. Please note that you can see the construction of this ring from underneath (two lines either side of the turquoise head) and when you look at the sides of the shoulders you can see minute gaps on both sides. But I think this adds a certain charm to be able to see how the ring has been made – its not damage, just how the ring was constructed. Please see photos which show all this detail. Video available on request.

CARE GUIDANCE: Please note that this is a dress ring and not for everyday wear. Although wearable she is an antique piece so should be worn with care and definitely not immersed in any liquids / sprayed with perfumes or aerosols.

SHIPPING: Free inside the U.S. and the UK – please see FAQs for details.
