Vintage Soviet USSR Baltic Amber & Silver Modernist Brooch c.1950s

Description

A stylish original vintage mid-century modern brooch; designed as smooth drops of butterscotch amber to a modernist silver mount. This unusual piece bears a hallmark showing it was made in the Riga district of the former Soviet USSR; now modern day Latvia. Gorgeous quality and a really striking mid century modern design; would look elegant worn on a sweater, light coat, or even pinned to a hat.

ERA: Vintage late 1950s / possibly early 1960s – it has the sickle in a five sided star hallmark showing it was made after May 1958.

ORIGIN: Former USSR (modern day Latvia)

MATERIAL: Silver (875 purity) and butterscotch amber

SIZE: 2″ drop and 1.75″ across

CONDITION: Lovely vintage condition; no chips or cracks to the amber which is a lovely rich eggyolk / butterscotch colour. Silver mount is secure as is the roll over clasp.
