Description
A charming large egg pendant; finally modelled with cloisonné multi-colour enamel and accented with a red cross to one side, and an imperial Russian eagle to the other. This beautifully made piece is very redolent of earlier antique enamel eggs made during the imperial reign in Russia; but this beauty was made in the Soviet era in the mid-1960s.
A stylish addition to any vintage jewellery collection and it would make the perfect stocking filler or cracker present this Christmas!
ERA: Soviet Era – Russian hallmarks are quite hard to read but with the sickle and star it is post 1958 and because the other mark starts with a 5, I believe it dates this piece to 1965.
ORIGIN: Soviet Russia (chain is contemporary Italian)
SIZE: 0.75″ high and lovely bulbous shape. Chain is 25″ long.
MATERIAL: Guilloche enamel and sterling silver (stamped 925 and Soviet Hallmarks). Chain also 925 Silver.
CONDITION: Great vintage condition – no chips or cracks to the enamel. Some of the very smallest cloisonné cells have not been filled on the eagle side but believe that is original to the piece. Silver hallmarks are crisp. Chain is contemporary to the piece and included in the sale. Clasp is secure.
