Description

A gorgeous antique American ring; featuring a sparkling natural blue Zircon, collet set with a halo of seed pearls to an elegant pierced dome mount with acanthus leaf shoulders all in buttery 14ct yellow gold. This exquisitely made ring has so many beautiful details to it, and it’s a gorgeous example of fine antique American Belle-Époque jewellery from the early 1900s.

The central stone is a natural zircon; and has a wonderful sea-foam green colour and the naturally high refractive index (higher than diamond) makes it wonderfully sparkly. Be sure not to confuse this stunning natural gemstone with ‘Cubic Zirconia’, the man-made imitation stone. This natural material has a stunning colour, was popular at the turn of the century and these antique pieces are getting harder to find and increasing in value! A great addition to any antique jewellery collection.

SIZE: U.S. 5.75 / UK ‘L’. Zircon measures 7mm diameter, and head of ring measures 13mm diameter total.

MATERIAL: Natural blue zircon, natural seed pearls, 14ct yellow gold (stamped 14k to rim of shank)

CONDITION: Beautiful antique condition – zircon is a good even colour with bright sparkle and minimal signs of wear / abrasion to facet edges. Seed pearls are hand-wired into a halo around the gold mount; they twizzle a little in the mount but are secure and this movement is original to the piece. Pearls are a beautiful shade of soft grey and well matched. Gold mount is beautifully made; pierced gallery in excellent condition, gorgeously shaped shoulders, and nice thickness to the shank.

CARE GUIDANCE: This is a very wearable piece as it’s well made and seems to have had minimal wear in its lifetime. However Zircons are naturally a softer stone and over time can get abraded if not handled with care. As such, and because of the pearls I’d recommend this piece be a ‘dress’ piece rather than everyday item. Do not immerse in liquids or spray with aerosols, and store in it’s own box to avoid damage from rustling around with your other jewels.
