American Belle Epoque Kozibe Mine Cut Diamond Ring c.1910s

Description

An stunning original antique American Belle Epoque engagement ring; featuring an unusual Kozibe effect old mine cut diamond that has stunning sparkle, set to classical reeded shoulders in buttery 14ct yellow gold.

The Kozibe effect is only found in some old cut diamonds; whereby the cutter has hand done the facets in such a way that the culet (at the very bottom of the stone) is reflected around into the crown facets at the top of the stone. This is completely different to how modern round cut diamonds are proportioned and gives the stone great character and the old fashioned sparkle.
