A cool vintage ‘lucky’ matches pendant; finely modelled in silver with sky blue, navy blue, and red enamel ends.
Matches have been a quirky motif in jewellery since they were invented in the 1820s. The discovery, by accident, in 1826 of how to make fire quickly through friction revolutionized industry, and this ingenious little stick of wood went on to be synonymous with luck in the Victorian era.
While these three won’t actually light you a fire, they’re a useful talisman and reminder of the need for us all to have a little luck with us. It’s rare to find a set of three so I’m keeping them together as they come on their original jump ring.

MATERIAL: 900 grade silver (stamped on bale), enamel, and a contemporary 925 sterling grade silver chain by Speidel.
WEIGHT: 3.2 grams (7.1 grams total with the chain)
SIZE: 3cm long not including jump ring. Chain is 20″ long.
CONDITION: Gorgeous vintage condition. Modelling is crisp and very finely made. Enamel is perfect with no chips or cracks. Lovely weighty jump ring is secure. Chain clasp is secure. Box is for illustration only but this will come beautifully gift wrapped.
